Safe of Ye Old BoomSticks!
« on: November 21, 2011, 05:35:28 PM »
so a couple of weeks ago i bought my first real rifle, a ruger mini 14 ranch, semi-auto .223 rifle BUT can use the 5.56 NATO round as well, so theres a plus, i can link that to my work easily...

it is a awesome rifle to fire, came with a 5 round mag and i bought a 20 round which just added to the fun i was having, accuracy is awesome at 25m, makes me think of the m16 and m4, has some nice reassuring weight to it, real simple breakdown and cleaning steps. heres the kicker, american eagle .223 at walmart no less is $6 for 20 rounds, dont get much better than that! remingtons 100 pack was $41 but eagle was only $31 for 100 rounds.

now i'm looking into getting a rossi circuit judge made by torus, simply a judge but its been changed to that of a rifle.

its a simple to use, light weight rifle bout 4 or 5 pounds. fires 45 colts AND .410 shotgun shells, warning i only suggest 2.5" shells, can use 3" but 2.5" is safer, but thats mainly bird shot, all shells can be used, bird, buck and slug. so far most ppl have not many issues with it. walmart sells it for $494, a bit pricey to me but not many other places are gonna sell it for much less. the grouping for it at 7 yards is about 3-5" spread, to me thats pretty decent, dont expect to go duck hunting and get a good haul but its good for those who like to change things up quickly and have some fun, target and live firing is always something that has to done safely anyway, but to me this thing really makes me want to go buy some spurs and do some cowboy justice but thats for another time.(ps- if i was in a cav unit, the spurs would have been easy shit to get... for the most part, if ya live that is) also that 7yds grouping was done with bird shot, so kinda something to keep in mind.

the british 303 lee enfield no 4 mark1 is a rifle i am hunting and found but am going to have to wait to buy it till next year due to my purchases and that of christmas around the corner, believe it or not but this thing is cheaper than both of the rifles i mentioned above, average price for a quality rifle would only be $350-$370. some include bayonet and another accessories. now the british 303 is almost the same as .308 winchester but its the recievers and mags that prevent it from being a repeater rifle, now canadians did convert some over to .308, the longbranch, but its hard to tell which have and have not been converted till being fired or at least an attempt.

so if anyone has any firearms that their proud of or just want to share, dont feel bashful and post it, but use the http link and not hotlinked images, save the rest of us the bandwidth for other stuff.

one of my newest purchases, a S&W M&P 15-22, a polymer m4carbine that fires 22LR.

i put one of these guys on it. i also got a flashlight i'm gonna mount on it soon and hopefully get a target laser for cqc soon as well!

also another new one, a Sig Sauer M522, a copy of the .223 or 5.56 nato version that fires 22LR. i only have this one set up for iron sights, but it is extremely accurate. at 25 meters i can hit a dime, easily 9 out of 10 times with a tiny bit of wind.

the only bad thing i have to say about these rifles is this, at 50 meters and so on, ITS A DAMN PAIN IN THE FUCKING ASS TO ASSES THE DROP OFF VALUE AT 100 METERS!!!! the rounds i use are remington and supposedly drop 5.6" at 100 meters but i might call a bit of bull on that one, they are hollow points and go 1620 fps. each rifle has a 25 round mag, sig is the easiest to find and the 15-22 is the hardest. i have a 10 round mag for sig but thats loaded up with cci stingers meant for small game, put 10 rounds in a boars head and it WILL go down. between the eyes or straight in one either way. they are copper plated hollow points that go 1630 fps and reach max velocity at 50 meters, dont know the drop value of them though, 50 rounds is a bit of money for 22LR....

i'll post a target i shot up later...
