Countdown to WW3
« on: February 03, 2012, 03:25:08 AM »
As we talked about months ago. Now the pentagon is going public. When Israel strikes, what happens next...? What will happen with Russia, China, Syria and North Korea just to name a few. Will Europe abandon Israel and the USA...? Who will the U.N. side with...? Will it be an isolated strike, or the full blown kick off of WW3...?

Perhaps....

But I think the situation is way to close for comfort. I mean where's the line between fearmongering and filling in the blanks? hehehe.

war with iran is not what is bothering me. it is what china and russia might do is what is bothering me. if it was just iran, i would say just go over there and take them out and be done with the hole thing. 40% of irans oil go to china. if we attack iran their shippments will be stopped. that is not a good thing. plus the smell of war is in the air.

Believe it or not, Im with Refuse on this. I highly doubt Israel is going to get the US to bomb Iran for them in the next few months. They can do whatever they want, but we're not about to go throw our biggest bomb into the heart of one of the biggest oil producers in the world. Iran would have to do something pretty drastic before we actually went back to the middle-east for war. we're now in the process of packing up and leaving that cluster-fuck of a region. nobody is thrilled about the idea of going back.

Panetta believes Israel could strike Iran this spring

By Barbara Starr

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has come to the conclusion there is a growing likelihood Israel could attack Iran sometime this spring in an effort to destroy its suspected nuclear weapons program, according to a senior administration official.

The official declined to be identified due to the sensitive nature of the information.

Panetta's views were first reported by the Washington Post's David Ignatius, who wrote Panetta "believes there is strong likelihood that Israel will strike Iran in April, May or June - before Iran enters what Israelis described as a 'zone of immunity' to commence building a nuclear bomb."

Asked by reporters in Brussels, where Panetta is attending NATO meetings, the defense secretary refused to comment. But Panetta told reporters the U.S. has "indicated our concerns" to Israel, according to a transcript provided by the Defense Department.

But the official also noted that Israel goes through cycles of making aggressive statements about its intentions toward Iran in an effort to pressure the United States and the West to take more action.

Iran's supreme leader issued a blunt warning Friday that war would be detrimental to the United States - and that Iran is ready to help anyone who confronts "cancerous" Israel.

"You see every now and then in this way they say that all options are on the table. That means even the option of war," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said during Friday prayers in Tehran. "This is how they make these threats against us.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned Thursday that Iran may be close to the point "which may render any physical strike as impractical," according to Reuters.

But just a few weeks ago, Barak suggested things were not as urgent, saying an Israeli decision on whether to strike Iran's nuclear program was "very far off."

A "confluence' of intelligence has led Panetta to this conclusion, the official told CNN, but declined to offer any specifics except noting that the United States conducts intelligence operations aimed at Israel as it does with many other allies.

The senior administration official also noted that there is a general understanding in the administration that Israel may have come to the firm conclusion Iran is developing a nuclear weapon.  Just last week, the recently retired chief of Israeli military intelligence told CNN's David McKenzie that the "Iranians have already decided that they want nuclear weapons," he said.  But he added they haven't decided fully to go through with creating the weapons.

The official U.S. assessment is that Iran has not yet made that decision, the source said.

At a Senate hearing on Tuesday, Central Intelligence Agency Director David Petraeus, who said he has regular discussions with Israel's leadership and intelligence head, noted that "Israel does see this possibility as an existential threat to their country, and I think that it is very important to keep that perspective in mind."

At the same hearing, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper noted the United States works closely with the Israelis and said the notion that Israel could strike is "a very sensitive issue right now."

"This is an area that we are very, very concerned about," Clapper said.

Panetta's press secretary, George Little, declined to comment on the report. Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently said it would be premature for the United States to consider striking Iran

Well, since we're all in the Shit's-gonna-hit-the-fan mode, I might as well chime in with a little piece of info i came across a while ago.

Iran is in cahoots with more than just the people buying their oil. Other OPEC nations that have it in for the US are also in line with Iran, like Venezuela. Venezuela is a major supplier of oil to the US. Every Citgo station you see is owned pretty much by Hugo Chavez himself. I remember one of DoC's posts from a few months ago detailed Iran's relationship with Venezuela, and that Venezuela was in the process of designing missile launch facilities. Do I hear Cuban Missile Crisis, Part 2? Venezuela is no feather-weight nation, mind you. They have a considerable military. A war with them would not be an easy win, even more so if we're engaged in Iran as well.

This is just one more reason we won't go back any time soon. Iran has more connections than immediately obvious. it would be the first time we faced a real threat from South America. With all the oil they sell us, I don't think we're ready to burn that bridge just yet.

to be honest there are only two countries that i don't want to piss off. china and russia. all of the other countries can pretty much go screw them selves. plus i don't see Venezuela doing to much even tho they have a decent military. they know we wouldn't hesitate to take over there country and make sure that the oil keeps flowing.

Doesnt Matter...

What will happen is suppose to happen...bad or good, and humans can not re-write Predestination. We put our money up, and then we take a ride. I'm convinced, history is repeating again, and we are not in a good cycle. Maybe we will advance far enough the next time it comes around, but I see nothing that inspires much faith this time. With all our advances we are still plagued with our basic animal instincts...

Greed and Pride, Envy and Hate are as strong as ever, so twisted politically, it can not end any other way but badly.
There are no other endings! NONE!
Our only choices are Bad.

Hehehehe!  This is just great.  How ironic in an election year we get claims of nuclear bombs from Iran along with the strategically placed notion that now they are testing long range capability. HMMMM.  so convenient.  Scare the crap out of the people and they will believe anything.  I saw this coming.   Can anyone say "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. LOL!!!!!!  Gulf of Tonkin.  I love how all this materializes during election times. hahahhaha.  So spot on.  Whether or not, this year we  will be attacking Iran.  And screwin around with Syria.  All for political reasons.   Goodbye economy.  It was nice while it lasted.

well i hope that you all are right. and all of this is nothing but fear mongering. there are a few things i know for sure. these new set of sanctions will have little to no effect on iran. it will only piss them off. Israel will not let Iran obtain nuclear power. Israel is willing to start WW3 to stop Iran. the U.S. will not attack Iran first, Israel will. the U.S. will only get involved if Iran does more then just defend it self. now if Iran does more then just defend itself and the U.S. gets involved i see a very small chance that china will get involved. it is just the way i see things. the way china have things setup is what concerns me.
