If its not under warranty and your up for fixing it yourself, Its actually not that hard with the heat gun method. Then invest in the x-clamp mod and either get a replacement fan kit or just buy some individual fans and mod it yourself. I know of at least 4 people who have done this, The one guy said unless you get some more cooling sorted and the clamps you will have to use the heat gun method at least once every few months.

Red ring once and had to wait for like 5 fucking weeks to get it back, then i red ringed, crapped my pants a little, unhooked it and waited for the box, tried it like 2 days before the box came and it worked. Still works to this day. *knocks on wood*

iv had 5 rrods and 1 faulty disk reader/diode .

i won my 360 in a chance wheel ( i dont know what there called ) the first week it came out ( it was one of the legendary "first off the line extremly sensitive to heat" batches ) almost 3 years now , so 1 faulty thing comes up every 6 months with the thing , grr

I had 4 RODs so far. After the third time, customer service put me in contact with a QA manager to handle my case. Instead of fixing or giving me a refurbished Xbox, they gave me a new one. They also threw in a brand new controller for being inconvenienced, how nice. >.<

i've found something out thats kinda interesting. basically, i unhooked my 360 and had it sitting in a bag upright with no game in it and after about 2 or 3 days later i hooked it up and everything was working perfectly and when i opened the disk tray, BAAM instant RROD, 3 red lights flashing away. i shut it down and rebooted and it worked fine afterwards. from what i figured the RROD doesnt only apply to over heating but to being to cold as well, the 360s temp was around 40 something degrees fahrenheit, i'm guessing its somewhere near 4 degrees celcius. so far its only a theory but i havent unhooked it and left it laying around chilling for the same events to happen again. even though it didnt die on me, this RROD happened at a pretty unusual time.

My first 360, a Zephyr model (2nd model, the first with HDMI and old GPU and CPU) died after 9 months, 3 lights. Got it replaced for free a couple of weeks later, same model, and that's the one I'm using now, so far it's been 3 months.
