Saw this on the Gamespot website. Thought it looked pretty interesting. Here is the trailer.

I saw it too, but didn't dig very much. The title left me relatively unimpressed with it's lack of creativity, and I think we can say "been there done that" with the WWII fighter games. I admit myself intrigued, however, and if a demo surfaces, I'll have a look. But I'm not about to spend another sixty-somewhat dollars on a game after this summer. All that traveling has left my bank account bare as a baby's bottom.
But if you all are still into WWII fighter games, there are a few oldies that come to mind. Blazing Angels 1 and 2 got me through about 2.5 years of my pre-AC6 stage of life, and since they're so old, I'd bet they are pretty cheap, and even with my limited funds I could pick up both with the proper amount of digging.

There are two other WWII flight Sims coming out as well.
Birds of Steel and Combat Wings.
overall, this is a good year for the flight Sims. I honestly think we should support such growth, but that's my opinion.
(In total we have around 7 {including battlefield 3} flight games this year and the beginning of next year.)

Most of the WWII air combat games have been really weak in my opinion. IL2 birds of prey was ok but had to many glitches and flaws I wont get anything from them again. Online was even more of a disaster for them. Blazing angels was a disappointment as well. Ubisoft should stop making them LOL! The only games I enjoyed were Secret weapons over normandy and heroes over the pacific(yeah i know heroes was made by ubisoft but was halfway decent). If i do anything i will rent before getting another ww2 flight game.

Here's what I liked about Blazing Angels 1:
it was simple. they marked stuff and you blew it up. The pyro in me really enjoyed the blowing-shit-up part
It had cool multiplayer modes. Plenty of ways to blow more shit up with your buddies.
It had awesome arcade modes. This was the game maker for me. you didn't have to be in the campaign or wait for a room to fill up. If you just wanted to blow shit up, you could do just that.
Here's what I didn't like:
No real story. The chain of events made no sense. They just dropped you and your wingmen on the map somewhere and told you to blow some shit up. no real continuity or explanation of how you got from Australia to France.
Multiplayer was useless. It had all the cool modes you could possibly want, but it would probably be a cold day in hell before you could get a full room, and you could wait for an hour before one other guy popped in. at which point he would probably leave cause he didn't like your settings.
Even though it had like 50-somethin different planes, you had like 3 or 4 planes that just had the same digital model with different paint-jobs and performance stats. A capital crime in any game involving vehicles.
Had 3 or 4 different versions of some german planes, and some planes nobody's heard of, but no P-38. what the hell?
Almost too simple. Could get really repetitive if you overdid it. Thankfully I didn't.
Now, on to Blazing Angels 2. Here's the goods:
AWESOME story. it had you running all over the globe again, but this time it actually made sense. that combined with hate-able bad guys, like-able good guys, defectors and hot female spies with british accents, I had a hell of a time.
AWESOME gameplay variety. Sure, you still had to blow shit up, but try doing it with no guns, or only doing it when the bad guys on the Eiffel tower aren't looking, or only blowing up certain shit that's attached to something you aren't supposed to blow up, and try doing it all with a dizzying myriad of weapons and plane upgrades.
AWESOME Multiplayer. It had just as many cool and creative game modes, but people actually played them. You could get a full room in ten minutes, compared to the eternity the first one would take. that's pretty good by my standards.
You could actually paint your planes. You could unlock 5 different schemes for each plane with relative ease, and customize all the colors and choose from dozens of different decals to put on.
Now for the not-so-goods:
No arcade modes. If there was nobody on multiplayer and you didn't want to play anymore story missions, you were shit out of luck.
Notice how I only used the past-tense when I talked about the multiplayer. That's cause it has fallen into the trap of its predecessor. there is NOBODY playing the awesome game modes anymore.
Just about ignored every american plane of the time period. No Mustangs, no Corsairs, no Wildcats, no Thunderbolts, no Warhawks, nothin. Yet it had 4 different Spitfires, 5 different Me-109's like 7 planes from Russia, every japanese fighter in the book, and plenty of German, Japanese, Russian, and British jets and experimentals. But the only American planes in the entire game were the F-2 Buffalo and an obsolete navy bomber that I didn't even bother to remember the name of. damned french game-makers...
So there's my list of goods and gripes on each game. Neither a memorable game by any stretch of the imagination, but if you focus on the goods and take them for what they are, you might enjoy one of them for a little bit. They will probably be the games that get me through college when Live goes away.
PS - this is my 500th post on this website!!! I now have 4 dots under my name!!! TEE-HEE!!!
