 All members of a Great Race of Humanity...from the land of the Rising Sun, the Island Nation of Japan. Former enemies, now devoted allies, who for their size, has mastered the art of Capitolism, Science, and AC6. And they have had less then 125 years of doing it the Western way, whether that truly be best...well, at one time I would have said " Hell Yes. " But that is another topic for this Blog.

 Anyway, when I took my first AWOL trip over at TCS,  Had I known MY absence would have unleashed a Beast, I would have never left for about 45 days...but then again....Then this New site would never have been either. Again....another topic.

 Anyhoe... I spent my time on line AC6 flying with my original 3 Wingman, Hitman Hayes, Motownchoppa, and Reg Rot. They are all or were TCS too, but men of true Honor remember when they were just my friends and not my squadron mates, and flew with me anyway.
 When not with them, I would find myself playing mainly in the mornings in Japanese rooms. Very different experience, more professional, but with an air of humor too. I have never heard what could be induced through rising of voices or other such things, an argument or disagreement, or hostility. And if I flew well, but not in the top 3 even, I was sure to get a compliment, short and sweet.
 It was also where I got to see the F-16 in true fighting form, and My Friend Yeah77777, can even fly it better then me now. IT was here, about the third day of coming into their early Pacific Time Rooms, That I came up with the idea for the "Shut your Trap Tourney", even tho I did not even have a name for it then, But that is another topic......once again.

 Well morning..about 5:30 PST, I was in a Japanese room (With their awesome connections!), and this American Dumbass came in. The room was peaceful...about 3 Japanese were talking...doing a little laughing perhaps, waiting for the room to fill up, I believe. Well the guy asked about 4 times to start the match. After the fourth, I told him to save his breathe, this was a Japanese room, and they will damn well start it when their ready! He answered....."Well these fuckers need to learn English then and get with the program.....".....blah blah blah!
 Not long after after that remark...he went ****X....gone. And I laughed and thought to myself..." I Guess they Knew some! Stupid Bastard..hehehe!"
 But being I was in a room with about 11 Japanese, I was rather embarrassed for America and, or it's culture. It was like sunday morning too, ...BAD Karma......!
So I simply said..." Good....I'm DoC HoLiDaY.......and that guy was a stupid fuck'n American!" Most the room Laughed, bantered a little bit...then it was on like "Donkey Kong!"
 From then on when I go into their rooms, I'm treated with honor and respect, always given a shout out upon entering, and I enjoy the fights ahead. And it's always a fuck'n fight.
hehehe They think it's funny I was flying drunk I think....but of course, I cant even remember most of it.....so call it "Good" and move on!

 But the point to all this, is on that day I swore to try to reach out to them more, learning some of their language. I think if you want the Japanese to Respect us, we must go out of our way to respect them. The quickest way to do this was make an attempt at simple phrases and complements..which I have complied a short list of for this forum. I'm hoping by posting my efforts here, some more will take interest, and perhaps with time we can become somewhat able to communicate better with them on line, then depending on limited time of just one person. That in maybe 6 months or so, we might be somewhat fluent to a degree...concerning aircombat..of course..hehehe!
 Now there is two parts to this I've discovered...it's one thing to find a meaning...it's spelling in Japanese to English, but pronouncing it is another thing. I've noticed that most lower cased i's are pronounced "ee" at least I think...and they will drag a letter from time to time, and haven't figured the variable for that yet. As Example, the phrase "Good Job" is spelled " Oh-Mi-Go- To" ....but the OHHHHHH is dragged and the Mi is pronounce Mee.....go figure..who would have thunk it!

 Anyway...I'm offering to combine efforts with anyone interested in improving half thier mind, other then getting stoned!

Here's my short list, but every once in a while I ask my friends above for a new phrase...then start practice saying it..hell hehehe Me and Yeah will practice even while in combat in some matches...lol! We don't give a shit...either...!

1) Awesome Job : Su-go-i  Tu-yo-i     pronounced: Su-gooo-ee Tu-yooo-ee

2) Good Job    :   Oh-mi-go-to           pronounced: Ohhh-mee-go-to

3) Good Pilot  :   O-tu-yo-I-de-su-ne   pronounced <notice the capitol I for a straight "IE" Capitol pronunciation>: Ohhh-to-
     yoo-I-dee-suu-nee

4) Respect Japanese :  Su-ba-ra-shi       pronounced: Suu-ba-rrra-sheeeeee  "My favorite"

5) Ready up Please : yo-u-I-shi-te-ku-da-sa-i    pronounced < I think > :Yooo-uuuuu-I-sheee-tee-ku-da-saa-eeeee

6) 1  = in-ch    pronounced: eeeen-chhh
    2  = ne       pronounced:  neee
    3  = suny    Pronounced: suunnn
    4  = yong   pronounced: Yoonggg

7) Good Morning: O ha yo u  pronounced: OOOh ha yo uuu

8) Good Day: Sa yo u na ra   pronounced: not sure

9) Good Evening: Ko nn ba n wa    pronounced< I have been having luck with>: Kooo nnn bannn Waaaaa

I will add more phrases later as I don't gank them for Christs sake, sometimes I don't even ask, but every once in a while when something good surfaces, I do.

Good idea on including the phrases, I don't generally play in Japanese rooms because of bad connection i get (always red) but whenever they are in games i do join i have never had any problems with them.

Well Refuse,

I have a note book, and always have it by me. For quick reference at first...then with memory and time...I need it less. Also, I'm finding the pronouncation is coming easier as I try and Practice the words or phrases with one of my friends. Well they don't seem to mind, in fact respect me much for it I think. However if a whole herd of peeps started hounding them...hehehe..who knows!

About the pronouncation..the hardest thing so far....is they have a soft undertone for some letters..that sounds like a soft hum and sound close to but entirely different from the English version. You can miss them if your not careful and it makes the whole word sound different. That's why I suggest only those who have made a pretty good Japanese Friend/mentor participate in this venture. It's even hard to adjust One's own dialect to it at first...so it often takes Yeah77777 about 10 times of him saying it, with me following, for me to form it out right. And there's always, refresher courses..just because you go backwards simply looking at the word, and trying to remember how to say it.

 What started out as a simple idea, to play with them, and be able to interact with them more...has turned quite interesting when you closely examine it, and then strive to over come.

 At Least in the "Mind of Lector!"

A simple thought for pronunciation is that all vowels are pronounced the same in every language except English.... A friend of mine said that they seemed really similar to Spanish.

a = ah, i = e, e = eh/ay (however the hell you type out a long "a"), u = (longer, like in "too"), o = (short, like in "toe")

for a phonetic, you can use small words for some syllables: Konbanwa = Cone-bahn-wah

Hayaku = Hah-yah-koo -> Hurry up
Kuso = Koo-so -> Damn/shit (it's an expletive, I don't remember which word it is)
Baka = Bah-kah -> Idiot

...I have two phrasebooks, 1 serious one and 1 for asshattery, so I could look through 'em and add to this if you like. ^_^d .

Thanks for starting this thread, DoC.  So many classy gentlemen out there (sigh).  I've asked those guys that if the Japanese are so stupid, how come they are up at 3AM playing a game made by them.  It hurts their little brains.

Much respect to our Japanese brothers and sisters!

I might be wrong, but I think "I'm an American" is (phonetically): "bo-koo-wa, may-ree-kan dess" (for men).
"wah-tash-ee-wah, may-ree-kan dess" (for women).

Also...
"Sigh-oh-nah-rah" = goodbye
"Koh-nee-chee-wah" = good day/hello
"Ah-ree-gah-toe" = thank you

The Japanese "r" is pronounced hard, almost like a softer Anglo "d" or a Spanish "r" without as much roll.

Yeah but if you want have real depth when you speak to them and under stand a lot of what they are saying you need to just go out and by 1 or 2 animes put the dialect on japanese and have english subtitles so you have a visual base and you can here them speak it correctly book learning is so much harder. They taught us when I was stationed in saseabo japan that the best person to learn from was someone who spoke the dialect of the country or area of a country that you were in. But I don't know any english speaking japanese right off the top of my head that play ace combat so the next best resource is a visual audio stimulant.....any other suggestions?
