Namco Bandai flight franchise returns to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year,
trailer shows helicopter battles, destructible environments.

Ace Combat fans can get ready to fly the unfriendly skies once again,
as Namco Bandai has today announced that
Ace Combat Assault Horizon will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Set for release next year,
the game will be the first console iteration in the series since 2007's
Xbox 360-exclusive Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation.

Assault Horizon will be the series' first flight on PS3.

Namco Bandai confirmed single-player and online multiplayer options for Assault Horizon,
but few other details were given about the latest effort from series developer Project Aces.
A teaser trailer suggested the game will be a rebirth for the franchise,
with one quickly glimpsed text message at the outset promising,

"This one's a game changer."

The clip showed dogfights through downtown skyscrapers that jettisoned debris when struck with missiles,
helicopter battles !? XDD, and turret-gunning sequences.

While a new Ace Combat hasn't been seen on consoles in nearly three years,
the series has since appeared on the handheld radar a couple of times.
Last year saw the debut of Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion for the iPhone,
while the PSP receives its second installment of the franchise, Ace Combat: Joint Assault, later this month.

Well shut me up and call me a dumbass. It was only a day ar two ago that I said AC7 wasn't happening on the HAWX forums.

I don't know about you, but after this video, i can sum myself up in one word: hard-on.

From the Vid it appears that they are taking elements from a large grouping of games and incorporating seemingly the best of the best for this one..... I agree the only thing I can attribute to this feeling.... SCHWING !!!!!!

That about sums it up for me ... I feel whole again. There is reason for hope after all.

 

Alright, time to pick this vid apart.

Jason Chan was right. the message said "This one's a gamechanger. You ain't seen nothing yet."

The chopper's they're flying are apaches and black hawks. this is different because we never saw black hawks in AC6, and apaches were only bad guys. The addition of black hawks means it's likely that troop movements will be a bit more realistic. AC6 the only mobile ground units we had to worry about were tanks. now we have to worry about foot soldiers as well. The uniforms on the soldiers were U.S. army, so we are kicking ass as the americans in this game. America, F*** yeah!

The Maps we see are real-world, not the fictional world we had to fight in for the first few games. They are obviously following the trend they set with Joint Assault. The battle in the video takes place over Miami, further proving that the Americans are the good guys here.

Destruction 2.0 is back. not only did missile hits leave their mark on buildings, but so did cannon shells that went wide. The planes literally come apart when cannon shells impact. it also looks like the makers put am emphasis on tight close-in fights, where guns are a very prominant weapon. Debries will surround your vision if you get close enought to anything that goes BOOM.

The intense dogfights are between buildings; very low level. So lets hope they cleaned up the ground graphics and fixed some of the scaling issues. also, super maneuvers like cobras and kulbit loops are here. it will be interesting to see how they worked those in.

They make an ordeal of showcasing their chopper fights. they make the miniguns look real nice. they also show a lot of carnage on the ground. there's also A-10's making runs on ships, so we keep on blowing shit up on the land, in the air, and on the high seas.

The dude telling us about the enemy ace has a russian accent, the planes the baddies fly are the Su-33/35/37 airframes and the enemy ace's name sounds like it came from the russian language, so we can safely assume the bad guys have ties to russia. it also looks like id we use the cockpit view, we can see not onlhy the legs, but also the arms and torso of the pilot.

it also looks like ejecting will have a presence in the game, so shooting down an enemy once may not be enough.


 

i leave for a weekend and they announce that a new ace combat 7 game is coming out. about time. i told you that the new ace combat game was going to come out next year.  and i can let you know right now that the ACES SQUADRON will be there.

I'm not even going to bother to critique to video, game trailers mean nothing. The first videos that came out for HAWX were awesome, but in the end didn't represent the actual gameplay in any way. But it is Ace Combat and I will definitely get my hopes up, despite the IL2 and HAWX failures.

I am confident it won't disappoint, but expecting it to duplicate the years of gameplay and dramatic battles (both in game and on the forums) that AC6 gave us might be setting the bar a little high. But it's still gonna rule, I know it.

Going to be a long wait though.

you are completely right fero. but i already know this. i will be playing this the first day it comes out. no matter what the people that reviews games say. 

Whatever, forget sns pricks. That ant hill has been doused with gas and they're dying, no sense in wasting a match, although I want to be the one to light them up, hehehe but anyway it's over with and it's all a joke. They're built up on lies and we're just who we are players of the games we like and only as good as we play, no sense in words because action is the real words that hold real meaning.
